Oracle v Google: a trial that may re-structure the industry.
In the November issue of Intellectual Property Magazine, Jim Farmer lists
some hazardous outcomes to the Oracle v Google patent infringement
trial. A culture of conflict may replace the culture of collaboration
Silicon Valley is noted for. The threat of patent litigation may
restrict innovation. If successful, Oracle may become a model for a
litigation attack on open source software. The trial in the U.S. District
Court for the Northern District of California begins in November.
